Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley is excited to invite you to participate as a partner with our 2019 Apostles Build home. We are looking for churches to come together in raising walls, funds, and prayers to build a home for one local family. Our Apostles Build project is a dynamic and practical project-driven way for the faith community to join Habitat’s mission.

To sign up your church contact Niki Voudren, our Resource Development Director: niki@habitat-roanoke.org

Ayamba’s Story

“Hello, I am Ayamba Sungula, I am a permanent resident in the United States along with my family. My wife and I have been married for about 21 years and God has blessed us with 11 children. With such a large family it has never been easy to meet the needs. I spent the biggest part of my life in a refugee camp back in Africa. I could not stay in my home country because of the wars. All that the the camp life offered my family was a lack of education for the children and the lack of water and food for our family. I finally received an immigration letter from the USA and that was when I would move to America. I was so happy even though the process took 4 years for my family and I to be able to travel. We arrived in the United States in 2015 in Florida. Life in Florida is very expensive so we could not stay there. We thought about coming to Roanoke to find better living conditions. I like Roanoke, especially the kindness of the people. I’m still fighting for my family to have a better life. I thank Habitat for Humanity for helping to build this dream home for my family. Thank you and God bless.”
