About Us

Our History

WRVL, the flagship station for the Journey Radio Network, (formerly the Victory Radio Network) was founded in 1983 by the late Dr. Jerry Falwell. The radio station was part of his vision to “…reach every available person at every available time using every available means.”

The network studio is adjacent to the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Jerry Edwards was the General Manager until retiring after 31 years of faithful service in January of 2014. Under his leadership, the ministry expanded to its current 8 full power stations and 19 translators in Virginia and North Carolina. (You can find the station closest to you here.)

Teaching and preaching programs made up the bulk of the programming for nearly all of the station’s history until December 26, 2014. After over a year of prayer and planning, the staff launched a fresh new vision for the radio station. The station adopted a new name, “The Journey”, and a new format that features testimonies of transformed lives, stories of hope, and music, that glorifies God and encourages listeners on their “journey” with Christ, by providing them with hope daily. The mission is reflected in the tag line: Life, Hope, Music, The Journey.

Mission Statement

We will honor God by using creativity and innovation to present compelling content that meets listeners needs. In doing so, we will share the hope of Christ with others.

Journey Verse

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Hebrews 10:23-24
