We will use available technology and creativity to communicate the present and eternal hope of the Gospel in a culturally relevant manner.
WRVL, the flagship station for the Journey Radio Network, (formerly the Victory Radio Network) was founded in 1983 by the late Dr. Jerry Falwell. The radio station was part of his vision to “…reach every available person at every available time using every available means.”
The network is owned by Liberty University with studios adjacent to the campus of LU in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Jerry Edwards was the General Manager until retiring after 31 years of faithful service in January of 2014. Under his leadership, the ministry expanded to its current 8 full power stations and 19 translators in Virginia and North Carolina. (You can find the station closest to you here.)
Teaching and preaching programs made up the bulk of the programming for nearly all of the station’s history. On December 26, 2014, after over a year of prayer and planning, Liberty University leadership and the radio team launched a fresh vision for radio. The station has adopted a new name, “The Journey”, and a new format that features testimonies of transformed lives, stories of hope along with music that glorifies God and encourages us on our “journey.”
