Kate has had a passion for broadcast and radio for years. Growing up in eastern North Carolina, Kate came to Liberty University in 2000 to pursue a degree in Broadcast Communications and has been doing voice over and radio work in many capacities ever since!
Kate is married to her best friend, Mike, and they have 5 amazing children between them. A blended family after journeys through divorce and loss, they are ever mindful of God’s goodness in restoring our broken stories and blessing the pathways in the roads we thought were blocked.
Music has always been an important part of Kate’s life. Whether it was learning piano from her dad as a young child, performing in theater and church productions, traveling on a singing and drama team during her time at LU, or leading worship with her local church as an adult, her passion for music and the way it meets us where we are has been a driving part of who she is.
And while she’s new to this role on the Journey, if you’ve been part of the Journey family over the last eight years, you’ll know her voice and a bit of her story. She’s been a part of the station since it started, filling in here and there on the Morning Journey and recording many commercial spots and ads through the years.
Kate is loving this stage of life with children from middle school through college. And while it can be exhausting some days, she’s so grateful for the lessons they teach her on a regular basis and the way that God continues to show his promises as each new page of the book turns in their story.
Her life verses have been Psalm 37:4-5 “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass” and Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.”
Her desire as a member of the Journey on-air team is to be transparent and genuine and provide a fun and encouraging place for you to hang out every midday. She can’t wait to see where this journey goes!
